The Sandoval County Commission honored women’s achievements during a proclamation ceremony on March 12, celebrating Women’s History Month.

The official resolution highlighted the critical roles women have played in shaping the county and nation. Commissioner Katherine Bruch noted that women currently represent 45% of county staff, 60% of elected officials and over a third of the management team.

Bruch read the proclamation, emphasizing the historical significance of Women’s History Month, which has been observed nationally since 1987. The ceremony recognized women’s contributions across economic, cultural, and social spheres, including their military service and establishment of charitable institutions.

“Women are making history every day and will continue to do so in ways that will change our county and our country for the better,” Bruch said.

Bruch recognized county staff members for their work in preparing the event. The ceremony concluded with a group photo of women county employees, symbolizing their collective impact and ongoing achievements.

“American women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made historic contributions to the growth and strength of our nation in countless recorded and unreported ways,” Bruch said.
