Two people died and several others were critically injured on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 13, in a car crash that engulfed a vehicle in flames near the intersection of King Road and Sheba Drive NW in Rio Rancho.
According to Jacquelynn Reedy of the Rio Rancho Police Department, Rio Rancho Police and Fire Rescue responded to a crash around 5:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they found two vehicles involved, one was on fire.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while multiple others were treated on-site and transported in critical condition to nearby hospitals by ground and air ambulances.
“On behalf of the Rio Rancho Police Department, and Rio Rancho Fire Rescue, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, and to all those affected by this tragic event,” Reedy said.
Police said the crash investigation is ongoing, and the names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
“We extend our gratitude to all the doctors, pilots, nurses, EMT’s, firefighters and Officers who worked diligently to provide care to the injured,” Reedy said.
