Once again, the Sandoval County Treasurer’s Office is sponsoring its Thanksgiving Food Drive this year.

Partnering with the Nacimiento Community Foundation, which operates The Checkerboard Food Pantry in Cuba, the fourth annual food drive led by Sandoval County Treasurer Jennifer Taylor will collect items now through Nov. 13 for Sandoval County residents who need a little help. Distribution of collected items will take place Nov. 13 via a drive-thru program at the Checkerboard Food Pantry.

“Since 2021, we have made it a priority to help those who need a little extra help during the

holiday season by organizing a food drive for the Thanksgiving Day holiday,” Taylor said. “This year we will continue the tradition in hopes of exceeding last year’s donations. The collected nonperishable food items provide for Thanksgiving dinner and beyond for hundreds of Sandoval County families.”

Taylor encourages residents to gather a few cans or boxes of nonperishable food items while grocery shopping and drop them off at the Treasurer’s Office located in the Sandoval County Administration Building (1500 Idalia Road, Building D, Bernalillo).

“As a community, we can take the stress off a lot of folks who are hoping to provide their families with a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal,” Taylor said.
