Cirque fans will get the opportunity to watch the acrobatics of the newest show to come out of the international juggernaut franchise. Cirque du Soleil:Crystal is in Rio Rancho, is planning multiple shows through March 10 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

Each new show often travels through Rio Rancho because organizers cluster events in areas of the country where tickets sell the best. Rio Rancho is one of the best-selling cities in the middle of a 10-city leg of the tour. The show has been seen in over 135 so far worldwide.

What’s different about this show? It’s on ice. The directors have combined ice skating and acrobatics for the first time since the inception of Cirque shows.

The Signpost spoke with Roberto Larroude, the show’s publicist who travels around the globe with each show. “Figure skaters are in high demand, but the performers also had to learn the acrobatic side of the performance,” he said.

Other performers who had been in previous acrobatic shows had to learn ice skating for this show.

“We already are booked until the end of this year in Chile, then we go to the Middle East and then South America, where I’m from,” said Larroude. “I’m excited to bring this show to my home town.”
