We think saving local newspapers is a worthwhile cause and so does
the New Mexico Local News Fund.
For every reader contribution – subscription or donation – purchased on Giving Tuesday and through the end of the year, the Local News Fund will match it!
More than 2,900 communities have lost their local newspaper. They’ve either been closed or sold to a big corporate groups that turn them into “ghost papers” with no reporters or ad space for local businesses.
Just ask Las Cruces, Hobbs and Farmington — all had their papers purchased by Gannett who laid off reporters and made decisions in a corporate board room.
But we’re trying out something new to see if we can save some of the last independent community papers in New Mexico, including the Signpost.

Instead of cutting back or closing all together, we’ve expanding the Signpost to cover new beats, including Bernalillo, the county commission and arts and community news county-wide. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Our advertisers help us pay for print and delivery of the paper each week, but our readers fund the local journalists covering news you read each week.
