The Placitas Community Library has released its schedule of events for May, featuring activities for children and families.

Pre-K Story Time will be held on May 13 at 10 a.m. The theme is “Birds, Eggs, and Nests.” Children will hear “Birds” by Kevin Henkes and “A Home For Bird” by Phillip Stead. An activity will follow where children create nests from paper bags, twigs, grasses and yarn.

A Summer Reading Party is scheduled for May 18 at 1 p.m. This event will kick off the summer’s theme, “Color Our World,” which will focus on art and creative projects. Attendees can register for the Summer Reading Challenge, receive a free book, and learn about summer activities. Ziggy Prothro from the New Mexico Office of Archaeological Studies will be a special guest, teaching a Native American game called Ginebig: The Snake Game.
