The Placitas Community Library (PCL) will host its spring Star Party on April 5 beginning at 6 p.m. with solar viewing.
The Albuquerque Astronomical Society Star Master will present a talk at 7 p.m. about celestial objects visible that night, including the First Quarter Moon, planets Uranus, Jupiter and Mars, bright stars such as Sirius, Procyon, Rigel, Betelgeuse, Regulus, Capella and Arcturus, and open and globular star clusters.
The Placitas Star Party is free and open to all ages. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families and friends. Members of The Albuquerque Astronomical Society will be present to share their knowledge and various telescopes.
Attendees are advised to arrive before dark to park and observe the telescope setup. Upon entering the parking lot, only parking lights should be used. Red flashlights or headlamps are recommended to preserve night vision.
