An $8 million construction project in Rio Rancho kicked off this week.
The city began construction on Feb. 17 on a new water line and road on Broadmoor Blvd. from Country Club Drive to Loma Colorado Blvd.
Construction is expected to be completed in January, but no full lane closures are expected.
According to the city, both directions of travel will be maintained throughout the project, ensuring that traffic can continue to flow smoothly along the roadway.
The project will cost $8,436,641.10 and include installing new water lines and reconstructing roadways on Lakeview Circle, Links Lane, Golfers Lane, Turf Lane and Diez Y Ocho Court.
The city said the intersection of Nicklaus Drive and Broadmoor will be temporarily closed for approximately one week during the later stages of the project.
Some schools will adjust their bus routes to accommodate the changes in traffic patterns. According to the city, affected schools have already communicated these updates to parents and students.
