The Placitas Artists Series announced an upcoming concert featuring the John Funkhouser Trio. The performance is set for Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church.

According to a press release, the trio, composed of John Funkhouser on piano, Terry Burns on bass, and Arnaldo Acosta on drums, will deliver a captivating blend of original compositions, Americana, and beloved pop tunes from the 1960s.

Funkhouser, a pianist, bassist, composer and educator, has shared the stage with jazz icons such as Joe Lovano, Steve Gadd and Esperanza Spalding. His career includes performances at world-renowned venues like the Blue Note and the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

Burns, a prominent figure in the New Mexico music scene, has collaborated with numerous local artists, while Acosta’s dynamic style has earned him a stellar reputation, with collaborations including renowned artist Al Di Meola.

Individual concert tickets can be purchased at PlacitasArts.org, where concert details and musician bios are available. K-12 students accompanied by an adult ticket holder can attend for free.

In addition to the concert, an art exhibit featuring works by Mary Hoffman, Anna Escamilla, Joanne Fredrikson and Carolyn Grady will be open to the public during church gallery hours, Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibit runs from Jan. 24 to March 6, and all artwork is available for purchase.

The Placitas Artists Series is made possible in part by New Mexico Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The concert and art exhibit will be held at the Fellowship Hall of Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, located at 7 Paseo De San Antonio Rd.
