Placitas Artists Series will present the Duo Steinback/de los Santos next month. 

The concert, set for Jan.19 at 3 p.m. at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, will feature works from Mozart, Grieg, Muffat, Piazzola, and a composition by Falko Steinbach.

According to a press release, the German-born Steinbach has recorded 18 CDs, published a book, A Compendium of Piano Technique, and is a Steinway artist. As a composer, Steinbach has created an extensive body with more than 60 compositions.

Brazilian-born violinist Cármelo de los Santos has performed as a guest soloist with over 50 orchestras, including the New World Symphony, Santa Fe Pro-Musica, the Santa Fe and New Mexico Symphonies, the Montevideo Philarmonic, Orquestra Musica d’Oltreoceano (Rome), and the major orchestras in Brazil. de los Santos is Professor of Violin at the University of New Mexico, and is the concertmaster of the New Mexico Philharmonic, holding the Karen McKinnon Concertmaster Chair. He plays on a violin made by the Italian maker Angelo Soliani, 1791.

Individual concert tickets can be purchased at PlacitasArts.org, where the concert program, musician bios, and more are available. K-12 students accompanied by an adult ticket holder may attend for free. The concert is sponsored by Claudia and Robert Moraga and the Cates Team at RBC Wealth Management, and BJ & Alan Firestone.

Concert goers are encouraged to come early for a 1:30 p.m. talk about the program followed by a 2 p.m. visual artists reception in the Fellowship Hall at the church, 7 Paseo De San Antonio Rd. Admission to the talk and the gallery is free. On exhibit will be the works of Tom Fore, photographic color prints;

The current exhibit is open to the public during church gallery hours, Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1: p.m. These artists are on exhibit through Jan. 23. All artwork on display is available for purchase.
