Submitted by Audrey Trujillo, NM Senate District 9 candidate
In the years leading up to this election, my opponent has received various appointments designed to bolster her political resume. However, it is notable that she has never held a job for more than two years, and her appointment to a role in the Biden-Harris administration—specifically within the Department of Housing and Urban Development—has raised concerns about holding a cabinet position without any prior experience in which she acknowledged in a statement.
Recently, upon returning to New Mexico from living in Washington DC, my opponent filed to run for State Senate District 9, yet her paperwork contained a significant inaccuracy, listing the wrong county she resides in as Bernalillo instead of Sandoval on 27 petition forms. This suggests she is either disconnected to this District because she has not lived her consistently or she is incompetent and doesn’t pay attention to detail.
In a recent interview, she articulated a vision focused on creating opportunities for individuals who, like her, entered the country illegally. This suggests a platform aimed at using her position to encourage illegal entry by altering immigration laws to expedite the citizenship process for undocumented individuals who are living here or want to come here without going through the legal process.
While I commend her ambition as a young woman, her approach undermines the values of our nation and disrespects the countless immigrants who pursue legal pathways to citizenship. It encourages a dangerous path to the USA that leads to sex trafficking, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and modern-day slavery because many illegals will work for less pay to avoid being deported.
Moreover, my opponent is not your typical undocumented immigrant story; she has been strategically selected by progressive factions within the Democratic Party, receiving education through graduate programs like Emerge that align with their radical policies to include abortion up-to birth. This raises serious concerns about her commitment to the rule of law and the integrity of our borders—principles that are foundational to our society.
New Mexico faces significant challenges, including high crime rates, inadequate educational resources, and a struggling economy. Instead of addressing these pressing issues, my opponent’s focus appears to be on reshaping immigration policy to benefit a specific demographic, potentially alienating those who have followed legal channels and exacerbating existing tensions. We need a representative who prioritizes the needs of New Mexico citizens and upholds the rule of law, not one who seeks to redefine it for political gain. We have a process and they choose not to follow our border laws.
Since the age of 16, my opponent worked pro bono in the Legislature alongside the Progressive Democratic Party leaders that continue to destroyed New Mexico through their bad policies. Some of the this extensive involvement suggests a strategic grooming for a political career. The Democratic party strategy is to position her as the first DACA Dreamer to run for state office and then use her as their political puppet.
The citizens of District 9 deserve a dedicated representative, not someone using this position as a political stepping stone.
In contrast, I have lived in our district for over 25 years, and continue to be active in community work, devoted volunteerism, and local and state government affairs. For over 25 years of continuously living in my district, I have had the opportunity to built nonpartisan lasting relationships and contacts throughout our District. I intend to utilize my connections to get our goals achieved. As your Senator I promise to always have an open-door policy and listen to all my constituents so we can work together on solutions that benefit our communities.
Please consider investing in the campaign and most importantly, please get out and vote.
I look forward to working hard to serving our district.
One thing about Ms. Trujillo’s background: she’s still a 2020 election denier which shows how poor her judgement is. It’s no surprise that her guest commentary comes replete with anti-immigrant rhetoric. I wonder which elected position Trujillo will campaign for next…and lose. Her political ambitions apparently flip to different public offices with every election campaign cycle. We deserve better representation in the Roundhouse than someone who won’t accept the results of a certified election.
What a loser. She would have been better off using AI to help her write this garbage. It should give everyone pause that this woman keeps running for anything, she is narrow-minded and full of herself. Not someone who will do anything for the people, only for herself. It’s obvious she will be open to kick backs and other forms of persuasion, just like most Republicans in the era of Trump have done.
As a Latina I find this post by Ms. Trujillo so disappointing. Alluding that crime exists because of immigrants is not only inaccurate but it minimizes the failures of our failed pathways to citizenship. Lucky for her she was born on the right side of the border.
