Celebration of St. Patrick Day

The Placitas Community Library’s Children’s Program Committee and the Placitas Artists Series are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Friday, Mar. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Placitas Community Library. The day will include a musical program for children ages 2-10 and their families featuring the Young Voices of the Santa Fe Opera. Children will get the opportunity to learn about the structure of opera, how it tells a story, and all the important elements that make it including props, sets, and movement. Free Landfill Day

Sandoval County Landfill in conjunction with the City of Rio Rancho (Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful) & The Town of Bernalillo (Keep Bernalillo Beautiful) will be offering four Free Half-Day Landfill Days. The next free day is Sat., March 16. Landfill hours are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more info on Free Dump Days and the town’s recycling event, visit tobnm.gov

Dumpsters will be located at the Town of Bernalillo Public Works Yard @ 585 Calle Chaparral. Hours for the dumpsters are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Preschoolers ages 2.5 to 5 and their parents or adult caregivers are invited to make discoveries about science by questioning, experiencing, and investigating.  Early childhood educators engage children and their adults in science and engineering activities that incorporate art, literature, and fun! Each session focuses on a different theme. This event will be held at the Martha Liebert Public Library in Bernalillo, Mar. 19 starting at 10 a.m.

K9 Competition

Mark your calendars! The Rio Rancho Police Department is hosting their first ever K9 Competition. Come and watch police dogs from around the state compete in agility, detection, and apprehension. The competition will be held on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rio Rancho High School Football Stadium. The event is free to the public and will also have food trucks on site, vendors, and activities for kids.
