The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a pack of aggressive dogs active around the area of Hidalgo Rd and Sandia Blvd in Rio Rancho.

The group of 4-5 dogs is likely domestic, possibly Shepard-mix and Pitbull-mix breeds.

The dogs have attacked livestock in the areas and have been “aggressive toward humans”according to an alert sent to the public by the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

Police have “increased patrol in [the] area and adjoining areas” and are urging residents to avoid the pack and “keep a safe distance from them.”

SCSO says they’re not sure when the dogs began roaming, but that they are now considered to be wild.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen the group of animals in question should contact the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office at 505-891-7226.
